Something just occurred to me...I'm not sure if I explained my choice of colour scheme.
Do you want to know? Too bad, 'cause I'm going to tell you anyway.
The reason why I chose green, and why I type in green (besides the fact that it's my favourite colour) is that I'm Irish. This also explains why my comments in brackets are in orange; the colours of the Irish flag are green, white, and orange. So now you know.

I just found this blog by a guy calling himself Bilbo. It turns out that his address is pretty much identical to mine, you just have to replace my name with his. I just wanted to let people know (including him, if he finds his way here) that I had no idea his blog even existed, let alone what the address was, when I set up this blog. I don't know if anyone really cares, but I know that some people do, so I just thought I'd put that out there.
Cheers!

ok, i think my brain just exploded. Numerical methods is just waaaayyyy to boring. The first week he talked about binary, octal, decimal numbering systems, and how to convert from one to the other, and I thought to myself "we know this from Electronics and Electricity"...now he's moved on to linear systems and matrices and stuff, and i'm like "okay...this is algebra, and you are making it hard" you should see the way he does gauss and gauss-jordan... gah!! but wait, there's more... we have to do matlab stuff, but the IT people didn't get enough licenses, so not everyone can log into it at the same time (meaning tutorials are pretty much useless), and he wants us to convert matlab programs into C programs...which wouldn't be too bad if you can get into matlab and see what the program does...it's harder when all you see is the code with no real idea of what it does....
I'm not going to be able to go to differential equations today, I am waayyyy too tired to pay attention to anything the prof says...i'm just going to end up staring into space.
I can't think right now... I need a nap.
Cheers!

I've tried a couple of times to update you on stuff... but my laptop keeps crapping out on me. Hopefully it'll behave.
It turned out that changing that one class meant a conflict for 16 - 17 of us, most of us because of Inorganic chem, and others because of an overlap with a lab. They have now rescheduled the engineering class, to 4:30 - 7:30 on Monday nights. I have choir practice that night. I asked the prof if he would mind if I just came long enough to grab the handout (he makes a handout of all the overheads he's going to teach from that week) and leave. He said that would be okay, just to make sure that I connected with someone to see if he added anything, or if he told us anything we have to know for exams. He takes attendance though, so I might go and talk to him again and see how that's going to work.
Everything else is going pretty well. I have a couple of assignments due on Friday, but apparently they're pretty easy. I have a two hour break this afternoon, so I'm going to try to get some work done on them. At least, that's the plan. Whether that happens or not is another thing (it's hard to stay focused on homework when there is a TV in the room, and you have a laptop with free wireless internet access ;) ).
Cheers!

Yay... back to free internet access...
Today is the first day of classes, and already they've f'd up my schedule. Chemical Engineering has two different "streams" you can go into -- you can do the 'Environmental' option, or the 'Extractive Metallurgy' option (trust me, this is going somewhere) This year I could take the first of the option courses for the Extractive option, so I registered for it, and what do they end up doing? Scheduling it at exactly the same time as Inorganic Chemistry, which is a required course for the program. What kind of sense does that make? And it's not the Engineering department's fault... the secretary didn't know anything about the conflict until today, it was the Registrar that for whatever reason decided to change things around. Nice of them to do this without notifying the Engineering Department. I think there are 12 of us that this affects (at least, that's what I heard) and the secretary wasn't too sure how they were going to fix the problem. Wonderful, just wonderful.
There is a reason why I'm going back to school.... there is a reason why I'm going back to school... Is there a reason why I'm going back to school?
Cheers!
